During Covid Spring 2020, kids had to learn remotely, as schools shut down to stop the spread of Covid-19. Remote learning presents challenges, necessary though not ideal. Our summer STEM camp is a fun, safe environment for kids to maintain or re-gain academic skills lost during Covid Spring.
Our curriculum is project-based learning, meaning we incorporate a lot of hands on activities, as well as opportunities to practice reading, writing and problem solving.
True to GEMS and GSAS fashion, our curriculum is STEM focused, studying such fun concepts as astronomy, physics, energy, electricity, magnetism, scientists and their theories, and much more.
In learning how to navigate this new world of a pandemic, we are teaching a smaller group of kids, maintaining social distancing, diligently washing hands and wearing masks inside to keep everyone safe.
The Quarter Project runs the morning STEM focused program, Partners Mentoring Youth teaches "Why Try?" in the afternoons. Realities for Children graciously is donating our classroom space.
Through this new model, we are learning how we can move forward in this pandemic to most safely, efficiently, and effectively teach our kids.
