STEM RAYS
Role models and STEM leaders
Our STEM Rays (Rising Advocates for Youth in STEM) are high school to college age student mentors who are integral to the GEMS program. Participation gives them leadership, teaching, volunteering and, for some, work experience. The STEM Rays give our younger GEMS girls someone to relate to, someone to look up to and a strong example to follow.
STEM Rays activities include:
- Helping to facilitate GEMS after-school enrichment sessions and during field trips
- Devoting 3-4 hours per session to GEMS
- Solo or team-teaching at least one GEMS class per year
- Helping with GEMS summer camps
- Learning a lot along the way!
Our program just wouldn't work as well without the energy, enthusiasm and passion provided by our amazing team of STEM Rays!
